Before Beauty Fades - 4/365

My goal for every yearly project is to capture a piece of beauty in every day.  These projects become a picture diary, I can look at every single picture and I am taken into a time machine, once again back in the moment.  I have been staring at these flowers for the last three days, appreciating their life, texture and aroma. Flowers represent so much to us at times.  They are often linked to anticipated love, warm summer days, birthdays, anniversaries and death.   I wanted to capture this moment, before its beauty fades.

“If you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for a moment.”
― Georgia O'Keeffe

This is a single image processed in Analog Efex.  I chose to shoot white on white as I wanted to experiment with the subtle monochrome tones.  Once again, I found shooting with monochrome conversion in mind to be a challenge.  Soon I hope to see everything in black and white naturally.  At this stage, I still get lost in colours.

Whispers of Winter

Snow is often a dreaded part of winter for many people.  In fact, my planned hike for today was cancelled due to the falling snow.  Rather than stay inside, I decided to embrace the winter wonderland.  After an hour and half in the dog park with Big O, and a 45 minute on leash walk with Little O, I grabbed my camera and headed to Fish Creek Park.  There was not a soul in sight.  The landscape was so peaceful, I could hear the whisper of snow falling all around me.
