Today we visited the Stax Soul Museum and then did a tour around the historic Elmwood Cemetery. In light of St. Patrick's Day we were told many stories of all of the Irish born people laid to rest in the cemetery. However, the story that touched me the most was No Man's Land. There are four public lots in the Elmwood Cemetery that are collective known as No Man's Land where at least 1400 people are buried together from all levels of society. When the yellow fever epidemics, hit memphis lost 8500 citizens and 2500 of them are buried at Elmwood. Due to the labour shortage, staff could not keep up with the burials.
