A New Year, A New Beginning

The beginning of a new Project 365!  It has been many years since I have made a New Year's resolution but in a sense, taking on a project 365 is a resolution.  It is the resolution to find a piece of beauty in every day.  Even if it is for a fleeting moment, to stop, take a breath from life and capture the moment, capture the memory.  This is my third picture a day project and this year I am adding two new pieces to the project.  First, I am going to blog.  Putting my thoughts beyond the picture is new for me and is a step outside my comfort zone.  Secondly, in an attempt to become a better photographer, I have decided to complete the 365 project in monochrome.

My year began warm and cozy at home in the company of a great person, an evening and morning that I will not soon forget.  The day progressed with a photo walk in Fish Creek Park where I had a nice chat with a friendly fellow in the parking lot.  Along with great company at the dog park today, this was a great start to the New Year.  May every day be as pleasant as this one.

The image below is an HDR of dusk on the Bow River in Fish Creek Park.  Three exposures are blended together using HDR Efex Pro2 and converted to monochrome in Silver Efex Pro 2.  I am a big fan of this software.
